This is the name we give to the legal position of a Trade Union Representative [Shop Steward]. Ideally they should be elected by their work colleagues and been on NASUWT training. The election does not have to be formal but the consensus of members in the school should be that this person is the rep. A reps election form can be found below. Our aim is to have a fully trained Rep in every school.
In schools were there is no rep we try and deal with a named contact person. Often this is a more senior member of the NASUWT membership in the school. If you want to have a different named contact person in your school simply contact the Secretary on the contacts page and he will make the changes for the mailings.
Members not in Schools
This applies to teachers registered as Supply or Support Services not based at a school.
Calling notice and agendas for General Meetings are now being sent to home addresses by post. These will also normally have a Local Newsletter attached.
Other mailings will go to School Reps and Contacts at school or at home. Where these have a newsletter attached, that is also posted on this website.
We are trying to increase the amount of contact with members made by e-mail. Contact can only happen where we have an up to date e-mail address. Some addresses held on the HQ database are incorrect and and we have any message bounced back to us. Because we only have e-mail addresses for just over half the Rochdale members we still need to post out a large number of letters. If you want to receive e-mail communications from Rochdale NASUWT just contact us on the get in touch page leaving your Name and School and we can pick up your address from that.
